I have to admit, I was pretty late to the game of listening to Podcasts. I didn’t really get it or understand what the big deal was. Then a podcast came up in a conversation with a friend. He had told me that if I liked mysteries, I had to check out the podcast Serial (which I will admit, when searching for it I spelt it Cereal and had no idea why my friend was recommending a mystery called Cereal. Nope, didn’t get it). I downloaded Serial and was hooked! I was so anxious to keep listening episode after episode to find out what happened.
I started searching the different kinds of podcasts that were out there and found that they had episodes and shows on so many different topics. As things came up in my life like adding a third child to my family or trying to save money grocery shopping, I would do a quick search to find episodes on those topics. Sometimes I have only listened to one episode of a podcast series because that might have been the only one I was interested in during that season of my life. Or I have found a whole series that I can’t get enough of so I will download all the episodes to dig in more.
I have found that Podcasts are an amazing resource and they are free! How can you beat that? Here are the current top five podcasts that I really enjoy listening to and the reasons why.
- Ed Mylett Show- I was introduced to this podcast thanks to one of the others I listen to. Ed is a personal development coach and has a mixture of interviews (my favorite so far was Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White) or episodes of him just speaking to you digging into something on his heart. I have had some true “ah ha” moments in almost every episode that I have listened too. This podcast is often one that I save episodes of because I want to go back and listen to it again.
- The Rise Podcast- This is a great podcast for women who are looking for tangible advice for both your life or your business. I always thought I had to be an entrepreneur to benefit from this podcast, but have found that I have learned lessons that I can use in many areas of my life. Being a working mama or a leader at my current job.
- Rise Together- This is a great podcast to help grow and focus on your relationship with your plus one! I have found it very beneficial to hear things from both sides. Many topics really resonate with me and I am able to bring the material home to talk to my husband about and have great conversations.
- Happier with Gretchen Rubin- This podcast has great conversations on simple ways to add happiness to your life. She also has some great life hacks that I have put into practice like the one minute rule. If something only takes you a minute to do, DO IT. If you don’t, all those “quick tasks” will add up and become a much larger burden later.
If personal growth is a goal of yours I highly recommend giving any one of these podcasts a listen to. Scroll through and see if any of the episodes spark your interest. The best part, it’s free! And you can listen to them anywhere. In your car, on a walk or run, while making dinner, the possibilities are endless!
Do you listen to podcasts? What are some of your favorites? They don’t have to be personal growth, I’d love to add some to my library!
